Abstract

The present research project focuses on the usage of virtual environments as a pedagogical support for sixth-grade teachers in elementary school who teach the subject of natural science. Moreover, this research project is done with the objective of grouping presentations, mind maps, and videos on a web page to ease teachers’ teaching process and to improve the learning dynamic of the intercultural bilingual school Sumak Kawsay. The methodology applied in this research project is the active learning approach which is characterized by giving students the leading role, the ones who build their knowledge and are guided by teachers during their learning process. As for scientific support, various literature sources and databases such as Academic Google, scientific journals, and digital books were used to gather scientific information on virtual environments and how to correctly apply them in class. The obtained results were positive, showing that 100% of the surveyed teachers from the aforementioned school point out the importance of the pedagogical accompaniment in the teaching process through various study techniques to promote meaningful learning in students and thanks to the associated strategies of constructivism, more active and dynamic classes are developed that awaken the interest to continue learning. The webpage focused on the subject of natural science is of the utmost importance because it benefits sixth-grade elementary school teachers with tools that catch students’ attention, acquiring relevant knowledge about the various studied topics, easily identifying main and secondary ideas with the aid of mind maps, videos, and slides that generate interest in teaching natural sciences.
